The list of organisations that could be interested in a talk is of course endless, with small and large businesses and anything in between.  After all a fair amount of crime is committed against businesses and staff sometimes have to face difficult situations.  It may help them cope if they knew what happens to, for example, shoplifters when they come to court, or a staff member is charged or convicted of theft in the workplace i.e. a breach of trust.

We would welcome hearing from you.  For further information please contact the North Cheshire MIC Team via email:  or telephone 01925 236260

The North Cheshire MIC Team has given talks to a variety of community groups and businesses.  It is often assumed that only pupils and students have an interest in the role of magistrates and what happens in a magistrates’ court, but this is not true.  Members of the public are interested in knowing more about the criminal justice system and to gain an understanding of the law, the types of cases magistrates preside over, our decision-making processes, and what sentencing powers are open to us.

It is difficult to reach the public except via community groups and businesses and we hope that clubs and organisations will take up our offer to provide you with a talk.

We think that your staff or group members would be interested in gaining an insight into the work of a magistrate, and to ask questions that they would like to get answers to.  The knowledge that they gain will not only benefit them but also their families.

We would like to hear from any Community Groups, which could include, for example, the following:

Women’s Institutes

Young Mothers Groups

Rotary Clubs

Towns Women’s Guilds

Mums and toddlers groups

Guides, Scouts etc

Neighbourhood Watch

Sports Clubs (young and adult)

Lions Clubs
